Jaguars vs Falcons Prediction

The South Alabama Jaguars are coming into this college football game sitting in 2nd place of the Sun Belt Group B with a 1-0 record. They won their regular season opener against Southern Miss with a final score of 31-7. Jake Bentley had a great game in that one completing 17/22 passes for 269 yards and 2 TDs. Their running game did not do much at all in their last game with Kareem Walker leading the team with 26 rushing yds on 18 carries. Bentley scored the only rushing touchdown. Jalen Tolbert had a fantastic game leading his team in receiving with 168 total yards on 5 receptions. Caulin Lacy also racked up 67 yards on 5 receptions. It was Kareem Walker and Trent Tyre who each caught a touchdown pass though. Keith Gallmon led the team on defense with 5 solo tackles and 2 assists. Shawn Jennings, Christian Bell, and Carlos Johnson all recorded a sack each in that game with a few others recording some half-sacks. It was Shawn Steele and Davyn Flenord who each caught 1 interception for the team.

The BGSU Falcons are coming into this game sitting in 6th place of the MAC East with a 0-1 record. They lost their first game on the schedule of the college football season to Tennessee 38-6. Matt McDonald played the entire game in their last one and he had a decent outing completing 25/38 passes for 187 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions. Their running game did not do anything at all as Nick Mosley led the team with 26 rushing yards on 8 carries. Their receivers did not have any one player stand out either. Austin Osborne led the way with 46 receiving yards on 8 receptions. None of their receivers hit 50 yards in that game. Davon Ferguson had a great game on defense with 7 solo tackles and 2 assists as well as Sy Dabney who had 6 solo tackles and 4 assists also. Darren Anders, Karl Brooks, and Walter Haire all recorded 1 sack each in the game.

Bowling Green did not look good in their first game failing to score a single touchdown while South Alabama impressed with a big double digit win. The spread is high but this is one of the worst teams in the MAC so the Jaguars should be able to cover this spread in this game. There is some positive value for a wager on that.

Players to Watch

South Alabama Jaguars: Jake Bentley is one player to watch in this game. He played great in the last game and will now be up against some weaker competition. Watch for him to have another massive game as he leads his team to another big win.

Bowling Green Falcons: Matt McDonald is one player to watch in these home games. The Falcons basically have no run game so it will be up to him to lead them and make big plays in the passing game if they want to have a chance at winning the game.

Notable Quotes

“He went through the protocol and practiced today and he felt good. He did everything we asked him to do on the front end. And, you know, I don’t get involved in those [medical decisions]. When he’s cleared, he’s ready to go. And so it was good news for us.” - Kane Wommack on his starting quarterback returning to practice.

"Our football team was much better at getting aligned (in the first half). We were prepared for the tempo (offense). We tackled better." - Scot Loeffler after their first game of the season.
