At 7:10 pm, our complimentary selection is on the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Cincinnati Reds. The Dodgers seem to have a pretty good strategy figured out for Shohei Ohtani as a starting pitcher. The two-way superstar has six starts this season for the Dodgers but a total of only 12 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.50 and WHIP of 1.00. Using Ohtani as a one-to-three inning opener means it gives the team an excellent chance at an early lead while not having to remove Ohtani as a batter when he exits the mound. It is likely the Dodgers will continue to use Ohtani in this way for the remainder of the regular season and into the playoffs, unless something changes. He'll get start number seven tonight against the Reds -- a team he hasn't faced since 2023 (1 1/3 scoreless innings in a similar opening situation). And Ohtani has yet to give up a run on the road this season -- albeit in a small sample size -- as in two starts away from L.A. he's allowed just two hits in five innings with five strikeouts and two walks. Take the Dodgers. As always, good luck...Al McMordie. Don't miss my red-hot winners, as I'm 28-9 my last 37. Today, I'm featuring my MLB Underdog of the Month, backed by a 31-13 situation.
