Sharks - Bruins preview, prediction and analysis

The San Jose Sharks will be playing the Boston Bruins on Sunday, January 22 in San Jose, California.

The San Jose Sharks lost against the Columbus Blue Jackets Saturday, January 21 in Columbus, Ohio with a score of 5-3 loss. The San Jose Sharks currently rank 7th in the Pacific Division. Nico Sturm had a goal and an assist, Timo Meier and Nick Bonino scored, and Kaapo Kahkonen made 24 saves for the Sharks.

"We all know, no offense to that team, but if you look at the other teams we play on this road trip, if we play like that we're going to get killed," Sharks coach David Quinn said.

The Sharks have lost seven of their last 10 and have seen the over cash in five straight with no help from them. They've been outscored heavily and the offense is not that great at the moment. If your top player remains Erik Karlsson and he's your top scorer, it's not going to be any easy going forward. Talk about teams that are trying to sell at the deadline, this might be the one.

"We wanted it to be easy," Sturm said. "We thought it would be easy. We were wrong. We didn't pay the price to win the hockey game."

The Boston Bruins won against the New York Rangers last Thursday, January 19 in New York with a score of 3-1. The Boston Bruins currently rank first in the Atlantic Division. Jeremy Swayman made 31 saves for the Boston Bruins in their fourth straight win. Swayman has allowed four goals in four starts since Jan. 5, including a 29-save shutout in a 6-0 win against the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday.

"He's been fantastic, and he just keeps getting better and better," Boston coach Jim Montgomery said. "What I like was how he was reading everything and he made really hard saves look pretty easy."

Patrice Bergeron, Pavel Zacha and Connor Clifton scored for the Bruins, who have won six consecutive road games.

The Boston Bruins have won eight of their last 10 games.

"In every position everyone is contributing," Bergeron said. "We trust everyone. Everyone is playing up to their abilities and capabilities, and I think it shows. The four lines are able to get over the boards. We're managing ice time. We trust everyone, and it makes a difference."

Prediction

I don't see how the Sharks, on a second night of a back-to-back, can go against the best team in the league and win, especially in Boston. This time it's not happening. Bruins 4, Sharks 1
