Boston College has lost to the Syracuse Orange the last 7 matchups in a row.   The all-time record of the rivalry is Syracuse 56 - BC 26.  Syracuse has a 30 win advantage.  Boston College has had a rough last few years… finishing 2-11 in conference last season.  They added head coach Earl Grant this year and are doing better.  They just aren’t winners yet. The last time these teams matched up Syracuse won 73-64 in Boston at Chestnut Hill… Syracuse star Jesse Edwards only played 13 minutes and only had 0 points.  The Eagles are persistent underdogs in this rivalry… especially after losing when BC big man Quinten Post logged a 14 point, 14 rebound game.  You have to scrutinize the point spread intently before considering betting on Boston College.

Boston College lost to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 99-95 in overtime last game.  It was a heart-breaking, soul-crusher.  They are currently on a 4-game losing streak… Syracuse is among those teams that beat BC in that streak.  They have only won 3 of their last ten games.  They are 6-4 ATS during that stretch… so they are playing tough enough to be in games.   The last game BC played vs Syracuse was a loss ATS with the spread at Syracuse -5 and the final score SYR 73 - BC 64.  That will cause the spread to rise significantly this time around.

Syracuse lost to Vermont in their last game VT 71 - SYR 59.  So Syracuse is not having a stellar season themselves.  They are 6-4 in their last ten games and 6-4 ATS.  They will not be a March Madness team to watch.  The Orange Leading Scorer Buddy Boeheim is the coach’s son… er or grandson… I can’t tell from looking.  Buddy’s brother Jimmy Boeheim is also a star on the team.  One guard, one forward, one head coach, one family.  This is primarily why they don’t have a good team this season.  The whole thing has been set up to reward the longtime Head Coach for the years of service.  The coach wants mostly a future for his family name long after he is fertilizing daisies at a cemetery somewhere.  So the Boeheim Boys who wouldn’t be able to get minutes at Duke or North Carolina get featured here.  Prominent roles for prominent role players.  This will help the kids join the ranks of college coaches or TV talking heads in the next few years.  It’s all a farce.  Still they are better than Boston College and that is what we will be betting on.

The underdogs will not cover in this one.  The Eagles don’t do well on the road and the Orange play their best at home.  The spread will grow since they played just over a week ago… but it won’t grow enough.
