Yesterday’s Results for Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Yankees

Analysis: At 7:05 pm, our selection is on the New York Yankees over the Tampa Bay Rays. Yankees southpaw ace Max Fried comes into his 22nd start of the season tonight having lost back-to-back outings for the first time all year. To avoid making it three losses in a row, the 31-year-old Cy Young contender will have to get past a very good Tampa team. The Yanks lost Game 1 of this series last night, but the good news is that the Blue Jays -- who New York is chasing in the AL East -- also lost in their first game of a series in Baltimore against the Orioles. Despite those last two losses, Fried still has some pretty gaudy numbers as he is 11-4 with a 2.62 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 21 starts covering 127 1/3 innings with 116 strikeouts. And two of Fried's best starts since joining the Yankees this past off-season were against this Rays team. On April 20 in Tampa, Fried tossed seven shutout innings against the Rays in a 4-0 victory and he duplicated that effort on May 2 in the Bronx in another Yankee shutout (3-0).
