Vancouver Canucks:  lost on the road on Oct. 13 against the Edmonton Oilers in a shootout 3-2.

Detroit Red Wings:  lost at home on Oct. 14 against the Tampa Bay Lightning in overtime 7-6.

This will be the 2nd game of a back-to-back for them on Saturday night against the Red Wings. The Canucks played in 6 preseason games and they only came away with 2 wins. Their first game of the season was against the Edmonton Oilers and they lost that game on the road 3-2 in a shootout. Nils Hoglander led the team in points in that game with 2 and also led the team in assists with 2. Conor Garland and J.T. Miller both had 1 assist in that game as well. Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Quinn Hughes both came away with the only goals in that game scoring 1 each. Tyler Bertuzzi led the team in points in that game with 4 and led the team in goals with 4. He had a massive game not only getting a hat-trick but getting the cherry on top goal afterward as well getting off to an incredible start to his season. Dylan Larkin and Vladislav Namestnikov both had 1 goal each in that game as well. Robby Fabbri, Nick Leddy, and Moritz Seider all led the team in assists with 2 in that game while Danny Dekeyser, Adam Erne. The Red Wings took an early lead in that game and led for most of the game but eventually blew a 6-3 lead in the 3rd period allowing Tampa to make a comeback and win the game. They still came away with 1 point but they definitely are not feeling good after that and may have a bad mindset coming into this one with the thought in the back of their minds that they may blow any lead they get again.

 

 

The Canucks are coming into this game as a slight favorite here. They will be on the 2nd leg of a back-to-back but they have a younger team with a lot of young players so they should have the energy to get through it, especially at the beginning of the season when everyone is still fresh from the offseason. They made a good comeback on the Oilers and will be feeling good while the Red Wings are in the complete opposite situation after blowing a 3 goal lead. The best bet to place in this game is on the Canucks to win.
