We’re nearing the halfway mark of the college basketball season and it’s been quite the ride so far. Will Rogers is going hard in the last 30 days with a 16-10-1 run, while Kyle Hunter has also had a strong run of form as of late at 28-24-0 (+$1,700). Texas A&M - Arkansas preview, prediction and analysis

Recent form
Texas A&M: won 72-66 vs. Vanderbilt
Arkansas: lost 67-64 at No. 17 Baylor

The Texas A&M Aggies, one of the hottest teams in college basketball at the current moment, will look to win for the 10th time in 11 games when they visit bud Walton arena on Tuesday to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks.

It has been a good time for Texas A&M as of late. The Aggies, with this run that they are on, are near the top of the SEC and are playing like one of the more dangerous teams in the country right now. The Aggies are coming off A72-66 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday. Henry Coleman III finished with a team high 18 points, while wade Taylor and Tyrece Radford each finished with 14 points.

The Aggies shot close to 45% from the floor and despite shooting just five of 19 from 3 point range, the 23 free throws were the difference. Even though the Aggies could have won this game more convincingly had they made the 13 that they missed, Vanderbilt shot just eight of 11 from the free throw line.

The Aggies had been a very good team against the spread up until recently. While the Aggies have been very good outright, they have only covered in one of the last four. They were 9.5 point favorites against Vanderbilt, five point underdogs against Kentucky, their lone loss in this stretch, and then 3.5 point favorites against Florida. They were actually getting 3.5 in their upset victory over Auburn.

So on the books, the Aggies are a little hit and miss. But outright, there aren't many teams that want to face them at the moment.

And things would look a little bit better for Arkansas had they actually pulled off the upset over Baylor over the weekend. The Razorbacks were getting 6.5 points and did cover for the third straight game, but the loss to Baylor prevented a 3 game-winning streak and as a result they have now lost five of their last seven.

Ricky Council had 25 points on 10 of 17 shooting, and Davonte Davis had 16 points To help Arkansas come real close to defeating the 17th ranked Baylor team, but to no avail.

“The one thing that you always want from your basketball team is to play as hard as they possibly can,” Razorbacks coach Eric Musselman said. “Anybody that was here walked away and saw a great basketball game. I feel for the locker room.”

I don't necessarily trust Arkansas right now, although they have played well over the last week and 1/2, but their season average is on par with what the Aggies are doing. It's just Arkansas has not been able to actually win games in conference. That same Vanderbilt team that the Aggies just beat, Arkansas lost two by 13. The Razorbacks are too inconsistent right now.

Prediction

Funny enough, the underdog has actually covered in the last eight meetings and surprisingly enough, the Aggies are the underdog. Which is amazing to me because they've won nine of 10. The spread is 4 which would indicate that the books think this will be a close game, but I think the Aggies will do more than enough to keep Arkansas at Bay. Texas A&M 78, Arkansas 71
