South Carolina - Missouri preview and analysis

Last week
South Carolina: won 40-17 vs. Florida
Missouri: lost 43-6 at No. 1 Georgia

It's a battle of two SEC teams that have no clue which way is up or down, and it's going to result in ugly football regardless of the outcome.

The South Carolina Gamecocks will try to win for the third time in four games when they take on the Missouri Tigers in a clash of ultimate fun.

We're using that term loosely. This will not be fun.

The Gamecocks are coming off a dominant 23-point victory over the Florida Gators to hand the once-proud Florida program its third straight loss. South Carolina's running game took over with Kevin Harris (128 yards) and ZaQuandre White (111) both eclipsing the century mark.

Quarterback Jason Brown had a decent game with 175 yards and two touchdowns, but this night was not meant for him to be the better quarterback over Emory Jones (even though it didn't take that much for it to happen). South Carolina outgained Florida 459-340 and forced two Gators turnovers.

The Gamecocks are 2-4 in SEC play with no real chance of playing in the conference title game, but a win would get South Carolina back to bowl eligibility. The good news for SC is its opponent; a group that has been about as abysmal as one could think in the SEC this year not named Vanderbilt.

Missouri is coming off a 43-6 loss to the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs. That part isn't shocking (other than them scoring six points against Georgia's defense). What's shocking is this Missouri team let a group like Vanderbilt hang around after losing by 21 to Texas A&M the week before.

Tigers quarterback Brady Cook was held to just 78 yards on 14 of 19, and Tyler Macon carried the ball only 11 times for 42 yards. Leading rusher Tyler Badie had only nine carries for 41 yards. What I'm trying to say is Missouri has no idea what to do when they have the ball.

Prediction

Missouri has won the last two meetings, and while things don't look great last week, the Tigers did not have quarterback Connor Bazelak starting. To be fair, South Carolina did not have its starting quarterback last week and still ran all over the Florida defense. After the field day the Gamecocks had against Florida, facing a Missouri defense that allows 300 rushing yards per game is going to be a cakewalk. And given the fact Missouri is 1-11 in its last 12 ATS, this should be an easy victory for the Gamecocks. South Carolina by 20
