A Western Conference matchup with tons of revenge on the docket. These teams did a BIG DEAL a few years ago… from that deal the Pelicans got a team… and the Lakers got a Championship.. Now they both sit idle as they wait for health to improve them. The New Orleans Pelicans still have SF Brandon Ingram who is playing at the SG spot to accommodate all the injuries. Ingram knows in his bones that if LeBron held on to the young guys?.. Him, Randle, Kuzma… They would have multiple rings by now. Easy… all three guys went off to the hinterlands to be the best players on some other team. The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off that big trade for Antony Davis and got a quick “Bubble ring” out of it… but AD hates the Pelicans and how they used up his BEST injury times! In AD’s mind he could have been injured and not playing in much more exciting cities! He could have made a lot more money OFF THE COURT in other places he had no intention of staying in shape for. The great betting opportunity here is in the recent results.
The New Orleans Pelicans have won only 4 of their last 10 games… but all 4 of those wins have come in the last 5 games. They went 4-6 ATS in that stretch, but were favored several times in losses. In their last game they beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 103-100. They got 34 points, from SF Brandon Ingram (who was listed as the SG but shuffled over very early). They got only 4 other players in double figures… but the defense did an amazing job holding the entire game to well below the UNDER.
The Los Angeles Lakers have to win now… There is no other way to put it!! The entire Laker season hangs in the balance of the next six games. Why? BECAUSE THEY ARE IN 13TH PLACE!!! If they don’t rise up soon they will soon be mathematically eliminated from “Playoff team”. (and by soon we mean the next 10 games). No rise, no chance. They have a problem though… LeBron no longer is happy with the trade deadline moves since his coach overplayed him and now he has a bad ankle. The trade deadline moves that added literally 4 players to the team’s top 7 players… were great.. But they aren;t yet winning and LeBron is out. They lost their last game to the Portland Trail Blazers 127-115… for a very big loss ATS. In the loss the high scorer was bench player SG Malik Beasley with 22 points in 21 minutes. Anthony Davis had 19 points & 20 rebounds… but everyone is starting to think he is not what he was before his last dozen injury absences… all of which he got in the last couple of months.
