An NBA Western Conference matchup between two very low ranked teams… and bizarrely the betting odds are all over the place depending on what betting site you go on.  The truth is “this is the game” for the Los Angeles Lakers.  The Lakers are pinned in 13th place with the Blazrs in 12th.,.. They are a full 2 ½ games behind the Blazers.  The Lakers just pulled off a bunch of roster revamping trades and there is enthusiasm in LA, but if they don’t win this one (most likely without LeBron)?... They will have solidified a possible playoff MISS.  With the season dwindling the Lakers NEED to beat ANY team above them but they definitely NEED to beat the 12th place team who is 2 ½ games ahead.  Without this win?... The Lakers may have a new roster on early vacation.  The Portland Trail Blazers are a mess.  They have one of the best PG’s in all of basketball in Damian Lilliard… but man oh man his roster is rough.  They recently traded STARTER Josh Hart so he can go be a bench player elsewhere.  Will anyone not named Lilliard, Grant, or Simons please stand up soon?!!  Those other three are also up and down on their own depending on nagging health or defensive missteps or simply being too small.  The great betting opportunity here is about faith!  Real solid faith in whether or not the Lakers can quickly get wins out of the new players.

The Los Angeles Lakers have won 4 of their last 10 games… so all the noise you hear about them rising?... You will need to soon hear about a few wins!  Or it simply won’t happen.  They won their last game over Golden State 109-103 without LeBron James! In the win they got 26 points from PG Dennis Schroder, 16 pints and 7 rebounds from PF Rui Hachimura, and a slow starting 13 points, 16 rebounds, and 1 assist from C Anthony Davis.  The star of the game was new PF, bench player, Jarred Vanderbilt who got 12, 8,4 in 17 minutes of play.  Jarred is reborn as a Laker and should be a starter soon.  He will also be looked in on by every other NBA GM that needs a power forward in case the Laker front office fails to secure his future services.  Jarred was everywhere and electric.

The Portland Trail Blazers have won 6 of their last 10 games.  They lost their last game to the Oklahoma City Thunder 138-129.  In the loss the Blazers got 38 points form PG Damian Lilliard, 23 points from PF Jerami Grant, and 9 points & 8 rebounds from C Jusuf Nurkic.  That is the problem.  Nurkic and Grant will be out for this game… and since the team just traded starting SF Josh Hart?... The Blazers are entering this game with almost no firepower.

Los Angeles Lakers VS Portland Trail Blazers Prediction

Our prediction for Monday, February 13th is…. Lakers 118 - Blazers 99

Bet on the Lakers… an injured Blazers team is not a team at all.  They simply do not have enough off the bench (and they certainly don’t want any of the bench players next season).  The Lakers have new faces all over the roster… but at least they have NBA starters outside of the point guard spot.. Which is something the Blazers can not say.

NBA Betting Trends

8 of 10 games in this series have gone UNDER the last 3 seasons.
The Blazers are 12-4 ATS after playing 2 consecutive home games this season.

Players To Watch

Lakers: SG D’Angelo Russell.  In a new home which used to be his home. Russell can find a whole second half to a career that has been very promising at times.  He is a good shooter and very athletic… He just needs to learn to play team first… even if that means playing defense for a full possession.

Blazers: PG Damian Lilliard.  Damon is a $50 million dollar man.  He makes a lot of money to be an NBA Hall of Famer who is willing to discard winning and simply babysit a bad front office for the rest of his career. I wish he were drafted by anyone else at this point.

COACH

Lakers: Darvin “hammy” Ham
Trail Blazers: Chauncey “I owned you then” Billups
