A Western Conference matchup of teams with loaded rosters and a disappointing amount of wins.  Seriously.. Both these rosters have 2-3 NBA All-Stars and future hall of famers. Both these roster suffered the ache of nagging injuries… The pain of a deep bench looking not so deep based on the results.  Both teams recently shuffled the deck, just a little, at the trade deadline in hopes of improving the postseason possibilities.  Both these teams also swallowed hard when they saw SF Kevin Durant join the Phoenix Suns.  The great betting opportunity here is found directly on the injury list.  With the Warriors and the Clippers health is the biggest hurdle.

The Golden State Warriors are last season’s defending Champs.  They have a core of players that can legitimately call themselves a dynasty.  They have a head coach with so many rings he is running out of fingers.  They have won 6 of their last 10 games.  Going 4-5-1 ATS.  They won their last game against the Washington Wizards 135-126.  In the win SF Andrew Wiggins showed why he was a first time all-star last season as he got 29 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. SG Klay Thompson keeps showing that he still has IT while getting 27 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Donte DiVincezo came off the bench for 17 points and Jaymichael Green came off the bench for 14 points in 15 minutes.  The Warriors will be playing without PG Stephen Curry.  Since steph left the line-up they are 2-2 in 4 games.

The Los Angeles Clippers are finally at full strength healthwise.  That doesn’t mean that Kawhi won’t suddenly sit if he experiences swelling in his knee… he actually did sit out the last game.  They have won 6 of their last 10 games, but are on a 2-game losing streak.  They went 6-4 ATS during that stretch.  They lost their last game to the Milwaukee Bucks 119-106… No one could stop Giannis who dropped 35 on them… The highest scoring Clipper ended up being backup guard Brandon Boston Jr who had 20 points… Brandon was a second rounder in the 2021 draft for the Grizzlies… he may one day be a very good NBA player… but he should not (at this moment in time) lead the Clippers in scoring on any night. SG Paul George playing in the SF spot had 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists.  Bench stud Norman Powell had 16 points in 24 minutes… Is it possible that maybe the Clippers could try playing Norman Powell for 35-40 minutes on the nights Kawhi does not play?

Bet on the Warriors.  The spread is too large! The Clippers should win… but remember they are 29th in the league in scoring!  How are they going to put -8 points on top of the pressure of simply winning a game? Especially if they need to get that -8 points against one of the best shooting teams in the league with OR without Steph?

Warriors: SG Jordan Poole.  Jordan is the young Warriors star that seems to have worked.  Wiseman is gone… and the jury is still out on Kuminga and Moody.  When Steph is out with injury… It is up to Jordan to take over that shooting chore.  If he shoots poorly the Warriors are guaranteed the loss.

Clippers: SG Paul George.  PG-13 has been a perennial all-star.  He has been the best player on a roster, he has been the 2nd best, and he has come very close to winning an MVP award.  Someone needs to tap him on the shoulder and tell him “You are the best player again!”  This team will pay Kawhi, they will wait for Kawhi, and they will cheer for Kawhi… but they can no longer rely on Kawhi.  Paul George must take the mantle away from Kawhi and not look back.
