An NBA interconference battle between the best team of the East and the middle team of the West that won the title last season. The key to games like these is injury.  The other key to games like these is erosion of the stars or ascension of the stars.  The Warriors are the defending Champs but they seem to be defending their reputation with every game they play. Mired at .500 on the season… they just are not impressive… The bug problem is that the players they let walk and the young players they were hoping on growing into those roles… simply did not work out. The young players are not ready or may never be.  The dynasty is at risk because of this and nothing else.  When I tell you that they had a nuclear option of a trade proposal for a perennial MVP candidate and all the young players… and they didn't do it?... It hurts the brain.  The Boston Celtics are the best team in the league and in the Eastern Conference.  They got that way by losing PG Kyrie Irving to the Nets AND by trading a set of old all-stars for picks and players from the Nets a decade ago.  The Celtics went on to draft properly and get lucky that Kyrie did not want to stay… because he would have killed this team… Instead the Celtics have the best team.

The Golden State Warriors have won 6 of their last 10 games.  They won their last game over the Washington Wizards 127-118… for a big win Over the spread. (as predicted here). In the win PG Stephen Curry had 41 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and SG Jordan Poole had 32 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists.  The amazing backcourt that was missing SG Klay Thompson is why everyone thought the Warriors were the team to beat.  SF Andrew Wiggins has been quiet for awhile now… he only had 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Andrew was an all-star last season and this season is down 35% across the board!  Also the bench is quiet when they used to be loud. The Warriors are .500 on the season for a reason.

The Boston Celtics are the best team in basketball.  They have won 8 of their last 10 games.  They are on a 7-game winning streak dating back to when injuries made them vulnerable to losing.  They have a few injuries on the roster at he moment, but those injuries are not to their big men.. Which allows their amazing depth at the skill positions to keep winning even while missing SG Jalen Brown for a few games. In their last win they beat the Charlotte Hornets 130-118 for an easy win ATS. In that game they got 51 points form Jayson Tatum.

Golden State Warriors VS Boston Celtics Prediction

Our prediction for Thursday, January 19th is…. Celtics 123 - Warriors 101

Blow out alert!. Steph is great, but his team does not stack up to actual teamwork. Actual teamwork get a team to defend well and score with impunity.

Players To Watch
Warriors: SG Jordan Poole. Jordan got a big contract extension and he is worth it.  He can score big on any night while doing a Steph Curry impression.  The problem with this team is whether they have the courage to put Klay Thompson on the bench going forward.

Celtics: PG Marcus Smart.  The Pride of Flower Mound Texas…  Marcus can play 2-ways easily.  He can score on you and shut you down.  It is worth the watch to see what he will do any game.  He is kryptonite for a backcourt of Curry and Poole even though no other team has this level of Kryptonite.

COACH

Warriors: Steve “all the rings” Kerr
Celtics: Joe “ no experience” Mazzula
