A Western Conference killing field. A real deal 3rd versus 4th place that is hotly anticipated because of the teams NBA trade moves… OR NOT?.  The Dallas Mavericks (I bet you heard) added PG Kyrie Irving at the trade deadline for pieces and picks… they will play him at shooting guard next to PG Luka Doncic who may be the best player in the league but at the moment occupies the #3 spot just behind Giannis and the Joker.  This game will be the first look we get at them playing together.  Hopefully for the Mavericks Kyrie doesn’t do anything to derail the rest of the season as he did at his last 3 stops Cleveland, Boston, Brooklyn. Also hopefully Luka doesn’t develop any strong feelings against Kyrie as players did at all three of Kyrie’s former stops.  Together they could be great Or they could be a trainwreck.  The Sacramento Kings made it through the NBA trade deadline without moving Kevin Huerter?.. That is odd.  They are in 3rd place in the West and they lead the league in scoring and their official weak spot is the Huerter defensive style of O’Lay!  Hopefully they can manage to get the most out of everyone else and still capitalize on the strong Huerter shooting that keeps him in the league.  The Kings may also not have wanted to lay a bunch of future picks after giving some away to the Pacers last season.  The great betting opportunity here is figuring out whether the Kings chemistry can overcome the Mavericks shooting star great players?

The Dallas Mavericks have won 6 of their last 10 games. They are on a 3-game winning streak… but a 5-game winning streak ATS.  They won their last game against THESE same Sacramento Kings 122-114, just last night.  In the same arena in Sacramento.  In the win the Mavericks got 25 points &10 assists from New Guy Kyrie Irving. 6 other Mavericks scored in double figures.  The offense was alive and Kyrie was hitting his teammates.  The only drama tonight is how well that ball will move whe Luka Doncic (who did not play) returns?

The Sacramento Kings have won 5 of their last 10 games.  An unfortunate 10 game result when you consider they are sitting in the 3 spot.  If they lose tonight’s game… they will be sitting in the fourth and looking up at the Mavs.  They lost last night to the Mavs 122-114 while getting 33 points from PG De’Aaron Fox and 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists from C Domantas Sabonis.  That is scary for the Kings because Fox and Sabonis having good games is supposed to be the winning formula,,, but someone will absolutely need to wake up SF Harrison Barnes… and it would be nice if SG Kevin Huerter made more than Zero 3-pointers ( in 3 tries).. I mean his best aspect as a player on the court is his shooting range.

The Dallas Mavericks are 21st in scoring with 112.7 points per game, 30th in rebounds with 38.8 per game. On defense they rank 8th while holding opponents to 111.9 points per game.  They are about to drastically change those rankings with the addition of Kyrie and the loss of SF Dorian Finney Smith… Look for the offensive numbers to soar while the defensive numbles tumble… the result could be anything?

The Sacramento Kings are 1st in scoring with 119.4 points per game, 24th in rebounds with 41.7 points per game. On defense they rank 22nd while giving up 116.9 points per game.  They made no major changes to the starting five so none of their numbers will change much.  They will stay a track meet team that tries to outscore teams.  Good in the short term, bad in the playoffs.

Our prediction for Saturday, February 11th is…. Mavs 123 - Kings 110

Bet on the Mavs.  The honeymoon gets in full swing tonight as we see Luka and Kyrie playing together.  The force of that moment will paralyze the Kings, a team that hasn't made the playoffs in 18 seasons.

Kings: PF Keegan Murray.  Keegan is a strong rookie.  He will have the Kings starting power forward spot for several years to come.  Will the team improve around him and Sabonis and Fox? That is the question and yes Keegan is #3.
