An Eastern Conference Battle of the Big Boys… and it will play out on National TV.  The late night ABC game on the East Coast.  The mid-afternoon ABC game on the West Coast.  The big feature of this game is not just a battle of Titans but also a battle of healthy rosters. Everyone that is anyone?… on these rosters?... Will be available to play.  That sounds odd… BUT it is a BIG DEAL in the home stretch of the season.  The Philadelphia 76ers are getting an MVP styled season out of their many time all-star C Joel Embiid who feels and looks to be at the height of his powers.  They also have a solid rotation of guards with Harden leading the league in assists, Maxey probably the best defensive option at guard at the moment and Melton as a solid shooter off the bench.  The team had tried Melton as the starter and Maxey off the bench but needed to bring the defense back to the forefront.  The Milwaukee Bucks have PF Giannis Antetokounmpo… he has what C JHoel Embiid does not… MVP, Finals MVP, League Champion… and He is at the height of his powers.  He is so good that we take him for granted.  He is offense and defense rolled into one superstar… He is surrounded by shooters and quality veteran players. The Bucks recently took first place from the Boston Celtics who had had it all year…. Will they keep it?  The great betting opportunity here is in knowing the Bucks are at home and they tend to devastate at home.  Let’s look at the trends and numbers and make a solid prediction.

The Philadelphia 76ers have won 6 of their last 10 games, but are only 1-3 in their last 4 games.  They lost their last game to the Dallas Mavericks 133-126.  In that game they got 35 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 assist from C Joel Embiid, 29 points from SG Tyrese Maxey, and 27 points & 13 assists from PG James Harden… but they were stymied by the combination of PG Luka Doncic and SG Kyrie Irving who dropped 42 and 40 points respectively. Forwards PJ Tucker and Tobais Harris combined for only 13 points… as the starting 5 got trounced in the plus/minus categories across the board.

The Milwaukee Bucks are having a great March so far… They are unbeaten. They have won 10 of their last 10 games for a perfect record stretching back 16 GAMES.  There is literally no way the Celtics could have held onto first place if the Bucks were going to reel off wins at that amazing rate!!  They are 8-2 ATS during the last 10.  They won their last game against the Orlando Magic 139-117… and they simply did not need the starters to play lots of minutes.  In the win they got 31 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists from PF Giannis Antetokounmpo, 23 points from PG Justin Holiday, 18 points from C Brook Lopez… and none of them had to play more than 27 minutes. It was a rout through and through.

Bucks blowout!  Bet on the Bucks.  Don’t fall for Philly’s annual “we are great too” posturing.  The truth is Philly is very good but suffers from a roster that butts heads.  PG James Harden isn’t the star except his brain keeps telling him he is… which will lead to unfortunate shot selection last in the game… No Bucks player suffers from wondering who their star is… It is Giannis… and Giannis is better than Joel Embiid…. If all the NBA players were entered into a super league draft?... Giannis would be pick #1 or #2 depending on the owner… Embiid would be pick #5 or # 6.. And he definitely would not be the #1 Center taken… That would be Jokic… and Harden would not crack the top 30.

Sixers: SG Tyrese Maxey.  A super capable guy no matter who they are playing or what style they come up against.  Maxey adds scoring to a ton of defensive prowess!  Maxey would have been the missing ingredient to the Sacramento Kings this season if the Kings had the cojones to trade for him (Huerter plus picks). Maxey fits on the Sixers better than anyone realizes… It is others who do not fit exactly.

Bucks:  SF Pat Connaughton.  Pat does not have a HUGE game.  He is an athlete first and a basketball small forward second.  His contribution is in how easy he makes things for Giannis who will dominate the ball.  Pat’s job is to move to the 3-point line and hustle after loose balls.  He is good at his job.  A complimentary player that knows his role is the secret ingredient to winning basketball.
