An NBA Western Conference battle.  The Thunder are looking in on the payoff picture from the edge.  The Suns are in the playoff picture.  There are 22 games left in the season and either of these teams could script themselves a better fate, by winning. Both have the current rosters to be playoff teams… The Suns have a current roster to be Finals contenders.  The great betting opportunity here is in knowing who is actually HOT right now and where the spread will fall?

The Oklahoma City Thunder have won 5 of their last 10 games and are hovering in the standings just a game below .500.  They won their last game against the Houston Rockets (everybody beat the Rockets) 133-96 for a big win ATS (as predicted here).  In the win the Thunder got 29 points & 6 Assists from PG Shai Gilgeous Alexander in 29 minutes!  He was on a tear but wasn’t even needed for the second half of the game!... They also got 15 points from SF Dort, 13 points from PF Williams, 13 points and 6 assist from SG Josh Giddey who only played 24 minutes… and 12 points in 14 minutes from SF/PF (and forgotten man) Dario Saric! Everyone who stepped on the floor for the Thunder was immediately dominating the Rockets.  This team has a very bright future when C Chet Holgren returns healthy next season and they have added some picks and moved a few bench pieces.

The Phoenix Suns have won 7 of their last 10 games.  They went 6-4 ATS during that run.  They are the real deal and have not yet added SF Kevin Durant.  They lost their last game against the surging Los Angeles Clippers 116-107 which was a loss ATS (as predicted here).  In the loss they got 19 points &6 rebounds from C deandre Ayton, 24 points & 5 rebounds from PF Josh Okogie, and 19 points & 9 assists from SG Devin Booker.  They played well… except no one could stop either Paul George or Terrance Mann of the Clippers who got 26 points each.

Oklahoma City Thunder VS Phoenix Suns and Predictions Preview and Analysis

The Thunder are 3rd in scoring with 117.9 points per game, and 13th in rebounds with 43.7 per game. On defense they rank 20th while allowing 116.2 points per game. They are +1.7 points per game but their record is a game below .500.  If they shore up the defensive end they will win easily versus most teams.

The Suns are 22nd in scoring with 112.7 points per game, but they have missed Devin Booker and Chris Paul for long stretches this season while also missing several bench pieces for extended stretches.  They are practically a different team from the one that created those offensive numbers. On defense they rank 5th while allowing 111.3 points per game.  The defense is solid… but again it was built with different players?  The best of them was traded to Brooklyn.

Oklahoma City Thunder VS Phoenix Suns Prediction

Our prediction for Friday, February 24th is…. Thunder 119 - Suns 118

Bet on the Thunder and have some points safely stashed in your back pocket.  The Suns do not yet have Kevin Durant in uniform…. The Suns no longer have Mile Bridges.  The combination makes them vulnerable to big spreads even if they do get the win.

Players To Watch

Thunder: PG Shai Gilgeous Alexander.  Truly a league’s top-ten player. Not many peop[le watch him because he is on the Thunder.  But those who have know that he can score almost at will and fills a stat sheet across the board.

Suns: PG Chris Paul.  Once again CP3 has been given a roster that has EVERYTHING!  Once again he has a real shot at the Finals and possibly getting a ring. He will need to find a way to positively blend his Center Deandre Ayton, his SG Devin Booker, and his SF Kevin Durant (when he is ready).. And finally we could have a real Nirvana for the Point God.

COACH

Thunder: Mark “who am I?” Daigneault
Suns: Monty “Mr Class” Williams
