A Western Conference mismatch.  It wasn’t supposed to be… It was supposed to be a good matchup.  The New Orleans Pelicans were supposed to be better than they are… BUT there is one star name in the NBA right now that I can firmly tell you will never break LeBron James’s scoring record… and that is Pelican’s PF Zion Williamson… In four seasons he simply has not played… He has barely registered 1 ¼ seasons of full playing time.  At this rate Zion may not ever break C Greg Oden’s scoring record (joking, neither are worth anyone’s time because they could not stay healthy).  The rest of the roster must be awesome to overcome the constant absence.. But some of those guys get hurt occasionally too.  The Sacramento Kings are playing on borrowed JOY. The Kings have not MADE THE PLAYOFFS in 19 NBA seasons.. They will this year.  Smiles and no other discussion is needed for the 3rd place Western Conference team starring C Domantas Sabonis and PG De’Aaron Fox.  Both teams need more building.. But the Kings get to smile while it is happening.

The Pelicans have won only 4 of their last 10 games… barely clinging to their identity from last season's playoffs as moderately dangerous.  They have good players but they aren’t winning or entirely healthy. They went 3-7 ATS during that stretch.  They lost their last game to the Golden State Warriors 109-99.. Getting 25 points from SG CJ McCollum who will end his career as one of the most underappreciated great players the l;eague has ever seen.. He would be a key piece on practically every Contender.. But he can;t find his way on to one.

The Kings have won 7 of their last 10 games.  They went 6-4 ATS during that stretch.  They smile and win and play again the next day… Even though it is about time to move SF Harrison Barnes and SG Kevin Huerter to land one more star… but at the moment it is all good.  They lost their last game to the Minnesota Timberwolves 138-134. In the loss they got 24 pints, 14 rebounds, and 5 assists from C Domantas Sabonis who is beginning to look a lot like a softer version of Nikola Jokic.
