A Western Conference battle of potential playoff teams…. The Wolves are disappointing everyone and the Clippers are disappointing themselves.  The Minnesota Timberwolves are among the weak-ass, boot licking NBA teams that tried to bail out Lakers’ star LeBron james.  They had him trapped on a desert island of no wins and no playoff destiny and simply gave him quality players to play with!  LeBron got hurt BUT the T-Wolves almost succeeded in building a Finals contender in their OWN CONFERENCE.  It is poor decisions like this that have mired lesser teams to the dustbin of history.  The Wolves are a lesser team. The Los Angeles Clippers have a top loaded team with superstars AND lots of depth… yet they never seem to win up to their abilities. Never. Historically never. Yes they had the worst owner in sports for 3 decades but this last stretch of years have featured the best owner… who is simply learning that the fates have it in for the Clippers.  The great betting opportunity here will be found in the point spread and the applicable faith in one or the other loser.

The Timberwolves have won only 4 of their last 10 games.  They went 4-6 ATS during that stretch.  They are on a 3-game losing streak. They lost their last game to the Golden State Warriors 109-104.  In the loss they got 30 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists from back-up Center Naz Reid (which is why they should not have SOLD the farm to get Rudy Gobert)... but SG Anthony Edwards had only 12 points on a terrible shooting night.  Someone should remind him he is not Steph Curry and needs to drive the paint. They also got 9 points from PG Mike Conley who looks absolutely spent as an NBA starter. He would be better served as an NBA backup with a solid starter in front of him.

The Clippers have won 5 of their last 10 games…. And SHOCKINGLY dropped their last two.  Against the Kings they became the highest scoring team to ever lose an NBA game when they scored 175 points in a 176-175 overtime loss!!  They lost their last game to the Denver Nuggets 134-124 in overtime. In that loss they got 33 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists from SF Kawhi Leonard… and 23 points from SG Paul George.  Russell Westbrook has played two Clipper games as the starting point guard and the team has lost both in dramatic style… the big problem is of course when Russelll plays he is taking minutes from Terence Mann… and since Terence Mann plays very good defense it is hard to tell what the advantage would be?

Bet on the Clippers and plan on a blow-out.  The Clippers have had no problem scoring… and two games in Tye Lue will have learned to get some defense of his own on the floor… It is time for the Clippers scoring to meet winning. The T-Wolves seem allergic rto defense at the moment.

T-Wolves: SG Anthony Edwards.  Anthony Edwards needs to take control of this team.  As the only Wolves all-star and former #1 pick of his draft class and as the Wolves best player… He must be more disciplined! The guy needs to lock down on defense and keep improving his leadership abilities. He will get left behind in history if guards like Shai Gilgeous Alexander and Tyrese Haliburton keep popping up on the landscape.  AE is good even great but he needs to get a whole lot better.

Clippers:  SG/SF Norman Powell.  Norman is an electric scorer that comes off the bench. He plays behind Kawhi and Paul George but he is the 3rd scoring option for this team nonetheless.  He needs to take the attitude that it is HIS TEAM whenever he hits the floor.  You can’t rely on chance when you are a Clipper… history says that doesn’t work.  If Norman pushes to play and pushes to shoot and actually plays good defense the Clippers will reach their potential.
