A Western Conference matchup of potential playoff teams… but one is having a very troubled 4 games stretch while the other is flying high and feels as if they already met every goal for this season.  The Los Angeles Clippers are continuing a Clipper tradition of disappointing everyone who had faith in them.  Whether it is sitting out back to backs… missing several months for knee swelling… OR simply signing Russell Westbrook and ultimately taking minutes away from fan favorite and defensive hustler Terence Mann… The Clippers ultimately disappoint. If the Clippers end up playing in and losing a “Play-in game”... It is time to move George and Leonard and start over.  It is as simple as that.  The Sacramento Kings have missed the playoffs for the last 18 seasons… two decades in the irrelevant dark.  This year is different.  The roster is young and exciting with a legitimate star in C Domantas Sabonis… They are in 3rd place with less than 20 games to play!  They will be in the playoffs… they will shake out some ghosts… and they will enter next season seasoned and improved.  They will not win a Championship… They aren’t there yet… not even a Western Conference Finals contender yet… but small steps has Sacramento smiling.  The great betting opportunity here is found in the large point spread.  Plus in knowing that the Kings have the #1 offense in the league while the Clippers have a much better defense… So which will win out ATS?

The Los Angeles Clippers have won 4 of their last 10 games.  Going 3-7 ATS during that stretch.  They have erased all the ground that was gained by an early February winning streak.  They are on a 4-game losing streak.  They lost their last game to the Golden State Warriors 115 - 91.  A sad finish against a Warriors team that is playing without Steph Curry. In the loss they got 21 points from SF Kawhi Leonard and 16 points from SG Eric Gordon… and the whole damn team felt flat. Starting PG Russell Westbrook went 3 of 12 from the field and 0-5 from 3 point land.  He should not be a starting player on this team.

The Sacramento Kings have won 7 of their last 10 games.  They are on a 4-game winning streak.  They went 6-4 ATS during this stretch.  They won their last game against the Oklahoma City Thunder 123-117.  In that game they got 22 points, 13 rebounds, and 9 assists from C Domantas Sabonis, 29,9,3 from SF Harrison Barnes, and 20, 4,9 from SG Kevin Huerter.  This was a game PG De’Aaron Fox missed. They did what winning teams do when a key guy is out… Everyone steps up.  The spectacular play of PF Keegan Murray should not go unnoticed.  He is a rookie and he plays tough defense while he added 13 points & 10 rebounds while shooting 50% from the field.

Los Angeles Clippers VS Sacramento Kings  Prediction

Our prediction for Friday, March 3rd is…. Kings 112 - Clippers 108

Bet on the Clippers.  Not to win… But to cover the 7.5 point spread.  They just have to keep it close.  After 4 straight losses the Clippers are due to be personally challenged by their coach… and they have the tools to win games in this league?... So, bet on them to keep it closer than the spread.

NBA Betting Trends

The Clippers are 1-7 ATS off a road loss of 10 points or more this season.
The Kings are 12-4 ATS when playing 5 games in 10 days the last 3 seasons.
The Kings are 23-8 ATS after an OVER this season.

Players To Watch

Clippers: PG Russell Westbrook.  We hopefully should be watching him come off the bench instead of starting.  The team is 0-4 since his arrival and has slipped 2 places in the Western Conference standings.  The Lakers had Russell figured out before he arrived with the Clippers.  He is most useful coming off the bench to battle the other teams 2nd unit.  That way he can crash the paint and look for easy buckets.  It’s time for the Clippers to trust recent history and do the same with Russ.  The guy can’t shoot and doesn’t defend so he should not play in spots that will require those two key basketball ingredients.

Kings: PG De’Aaron Fox.  Mr Fox is quick.  Lightning fast actually… He’s no Tyrese Haliburton on the defensive end but he can easily drop 25 points while wracking up some assists.  A star.. Maybe? If the team wins enough.

COACH

Clippers: Tye “its all bad right now” Lue
Kings: Mike “Its all good right now” Brown
