Spurs: PG Tre Jones, SG Devin Vasell, SF Doug McDermott, PF Jeremy Sochan, C Zach Collins

An NBA interconference matchup between losing teams… Though it is not close.  Even though the Indiana Pacers routinely star C Myles Turner surrounded by 4 guards at every other position?... and the next wave of quality reserves is made up mostly of guards?... They still outclass the Spurs at every position.  The Pacers are bad because they are unbalanced… they are not bad because they don’t have good players.  The San Antonio Spurs have one good player in SF Keldon Johnson… Everyone else is a place filler that will soon be replaced by draft picks and random free agents in the coming rebuild.  A big problem in this game for the Spurs is that SF Keldon Johsnon is out with injury.  This is a gross mismatch.  The great betting opportunity here is in seeing that mismatch and trusting you will then see a blow out.  Also if the pacers end up missing PG Tyrese Haliburton because he is listed as day to day… that just means more minutes for Ben Mathurin… who will scorch the Spurs from the tip to the whistle.

The Indiana Pacers have won 4 of their last 10 games… but have won 3 of their last 4.  They went 6-4 ATS during that stretch.  They won their last game over the Dallas Mavericks 124-122.  They got 32 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists from PG Tyrese Haliburton… That guy is a star and he did it against Luka Doncic.  They also got 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 BLOCKS from C Myles Turner. Myles recently signed a 2 year extension to his deal… keeping him around until the Pacers no where the draft picks will land (THEY NEED FORWARDS!).  Everyone played well… and they beat a Dallas team that has two of the 7 best guards in the entire league .. with Luka being probably the best.

The San Antonio Spurs have won only 1 of their last 10 games.  Going 2-8 ATS.  The game they won was their last game!  A 102-94 win over the Utah Jazz who were missing several starters to injury. In the win the Spurs got 25 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists from SF Keldon Johsnon who was playing out of position as a SG… he also hurt himself and will miss this game. Sf Doug McDermott got 19 points off the bench but will now have to start to fill in for Keldon.

Players To Watch

Pacers: SG Ben Mathurin. Benedict is a killer.  A true ice in his veins scorer that remains a lot of people of a young Donovan Mitchell. He has spent his rookie season coming off the bench and is a real solid sixth man.  Sixth man is not his future however.  Soon (next season) he will be paired in the starting lineup with PG Tyrese Haliburton… and the gloves will be off!  Ben can score.  Ben has decent size for his position… if that coming backcourt is paired with a quality rotation of Forwards?... Lookout for the Pacers to rapidly rise in the standings.

Spurs:  Nobody.  Seriously, do not watch these Spurs.  This team is losing in order to get lucky in the NBA Draft Lottery.  They sent their best player of the last few years (Dejounte Murray) to the Hawks in order to add draft picks… they sent a quality SG in Derrick White to the Celtics last year to add to their draft picks.  Whatever happens in this coming draft lottery you can bet that THESE SPURS will not survive the coming purge and rebuild… except for SF Keldon Johsnon… but still there is little reason to watch even him.

COACH

Pacers: Rick “do I still look like Jim Carrey?” Carlysle
Spurs: Greg “the end is dark” Poppovich
