A Western Conference matchup between two good teams that have serious problems getting through a game like this. The Golden State Warriors are terrible on the road.  No exaggeration… the Warriors at home are 2X as good as the Warriors at home… you can chalk that up to a core of young bench players that don’t excel without Cheers… OR you can chalk it up to a core of veteran all-star future Hall Of Famers who simply play better after sleeping in their own 10,000 square foot houses!  The most logical assumption is that these very separate groups of players that make up the core of the Warriors are not actually in harmony.  The Grizzlies struggle for a different reason… They got very used to winning behind the talents of one of the league’s best young players… However, that player is missing and will be missing games until we figure out if he can keep himself from flashing guns at strangers… whether that is in a mall or on the internet… Or if he carries his guns on the team plane ( a no-no) or in the team locker room (also a no-no).  With Ja Morant missing this very good Grizzlies team is momentarily floundering.  The great betting opportunity here is found in simply figuring out which weakness is the bigger weakness.

The Golden State Warriors have won 6 of their last 10 games… winning 6 home games and losing 4 road games!!!  They went 6-4 ATS during that stretch.  They lost their last game to the OKC Thunder (as predicted here) 137-128… a shocking loss since the Thunder only have 2-3 recognizable players in this league.  The Warriors got 40 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists from PG Steph Curry… 23 points from SG Klay Thompson… 21 points from PF Jonathan Kuminga, and a monstrous 11 points and 11 assists from PF Draymond Green.  They just couldn’t stop the Thunder on the defensive end… They were missing SF Andrew Wiggins,, and they will again be missing him.

The Memphis Grizzlies have won 5 of their last 10 games… They are currently on a 3-game losing streak.  The last two games they have been missing PG Ja Morant and took losses to the Clippers and Lakers.  They lost their last game to the Lakers 112-103.  They got 26 points & 8 rebounds from PF Jaren Jackson Jr … but pretty skimpy results from everyone else… like 7 points from SG Desmond Bane… and 13 points from SF Dillon Brooks…. Continuing a trend this season SF Zaiire Williams simply isn’t playing much and doesn’t contribute much.  Last season Zaiire played 7 more minutes per game… Going from 21 minutes to 15 minutes is not the direction the Grizzlies wanted from their 2nd year 10th pick in the first round guy. In fact he is only averaging 7 minutes a game over the last 10 games!

Golden State Warriors VS Memphis Grizzlies Prediction

Our prediction for Thursday, March 9th is…. Warriors 122 - Grizzlies 120

Bet on the Grizzlies.  The Warriors do not play well on the road.  The Grizzlies will not have such small games from Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks as they did last game… the result will be the Grizzlies either winning or covering as an underdog at home.

NBA Betting Trends

Memphis is 6-1 ATS versus Golden State in Memphis the last 3 seasons.
Memphis is 10-6 ATS versus Golden State overall the last 3 seasons.
Golden State is  3-12 ATS as a road favorite this season.

Players To Watch

Warriors: SF Donte DiVincenzo.  Donte has proven that even when Wiggins and Looney get healthy there will still be room for him on the court.  Steve Kerr will have to find minutes for his hustle and his professionalism.

Grizzlies: SG Desmond Bane.  Desmond let the team down last game.  Big time… but he is a very good player and as far as I know hasn’t flashed guns at anybody.  With Steph and Klay on the court… It is all up to Desmond to make the long ball… Nothing else will get this win.

COACH

Warriors: Steve “Lord Of the Rings” Kerr
Thunder: Mark “Marky Mark” Daigenault
