A Western Conference battle of the big boys that will be missing two important faces.  The Denver Nuggets are the #1 team in the Western Conference with the best player in basketball.  Don’t listen to the talking heads that think the Joker is just being rewarded with MVPs for stats… The Joker is the best kind of MVP.. the kind that gets whatever he wants on the floor while lifting a small market team into contender.  His supporting cast is nice, but really we only know they are nice because of who THEY play with. The Nuggets will be missing Sf Aaron Gordon. The Memphis Grizzlies are the #2 team in the West and they are the team that is most feeling the heat from the Phoenix Suns preparing to add Kevin Durant to their lineup. They have a great player in PG Ja Morant… and a deep team.  They also have a thin and closing window to squeeze into.  The Grizzlies have so much talent and meanwhile everyone around them got MUCH better in the West at the trade deadline… It is now or never.  The Grizzlies will be missing C Steven Adams.  The great betting opportunity here is in trying to figure out exactly WHO on the Grizzlies roster will be able to stop Nikola Jokic… the answer is nobody.

The Denver Nuggets have won 8 of their last 10 games while going 8-2 ATS.  They are on a killer 4-game winning streak that was also 4-0 ATS.  They won their last game over the Cleveland Cavaliers 115-109. In the win they got 24 points, 18 rebounds, and 13 assists from C Nikola Jokic… I don’t need to say anything more BUT they also got 25 points from PF Michael Porter JR… AND they were playing without SF Aaron Gordon. SG Kentavious Caldwell Pope made all 4 of his 3 point tries.

The Memphis Grizzlies have won only 4 of their last 10 games.  They went 3-7 ATS during that stretch. The early season winning has paid off since they have gone very UP and Down since.  They lost their last game to the Philadelphia 76ers 110-105.  The game contained an amazing block of a Ja Morant lay-up/dunk try by C Joel Embiid. In the loss SG Desmond Bane led the Grizzlies with 25 points but shot only 33% on his 3-point attempts of which he attempted 12.  Ja Morant was not himself as he logged only 15 po9nts with 3 rebounds and 5 assists… and had his shot stuffed back into his gullet. PF Jaren jackson Jr had a very Jaren jackson game with 18 points & 9 rebounds to go with 4 BIG BLOCKED SHOTS.

The Nuggets are 7th in scoring with 117.1 points per game, and 19th in rebounds with 42.8 per game. On defense they rank a respectable 13th while only allowing 112.7 points per game.  The defense will no doubt take a hit while Aaron Gordon is not playing.

The Grizzlies are 9th in scoring with 115.9 points per game, and 2nd in rebounds with 47.8 per game. On defense they rank 8th while holding opponents to 112.2.

Our prediction for Saturday, February 25th is…. Nuggets 122 - Grizzlies 118

Bet on the Nuggets.  With a close spread and each team missing an integral player?  The difference will come down to no Steven Adams on Nikola Jokic.  Nikola will score over Brandon Clarke at will and will hit the open man whenever Jaren Jackson Jr comes over to help.  Bet on the Nuggets and watch the money roll in.

Nuggets: PF Michael Porter Jr.  Michael has come alive for now.  He is a guy that would have been drafted higher and would be paid a lot more had he not had persistent health problems.  Still when he is healthy and playing you can glimpse the wasted potential… A healthy MPJ would have been a multiple time all-star that averages 25-30 points a game.  The current version can get the Nuggets 15-25 on any given night and might need an ice bath after.

Grizzlies: PF Jaren Jackson Jr. Jaren is a true defensive force.  Blocked shots and rebounds come BEFORE the occasional 20 point game.. This makes him a perfect bookend for his backcourt. It does however throw into question SF Dillon Brooks who seems ill-suited to hold up the other end of the defense.
