An Eastern Conference late game that should be fun.  These are both playoff bound teams (that is if Miami can hold on… and they probably can).  The Cleveland Cavaliers have a great young roster with a powerful shooting guard as their leader… but they are still not in the class of the Bucks, Celtics, or 76ers… So while they ply their trade in 4th place? They are really waiting for someone else’s injury or misfortune to make them a contender.  The Miami Heat are a failed experiment in blending young and old… offensively capable players with defensively capable players.  The Heat have had a lot of success over the years and it is usually because a great player (or players) fell into their lap at the right time… at the moment they do not fit that description.. And stuck in 7th place waiting for improvement in the health of Kyle Lowry and Kevin Love.. They are really a team that needs a rebuild… but they are still better than all the Eastern Conference teams chasing a rebuild with losses.  The great betting opportunity here is in knowing that this game will be decided by the day to day status of Heat players Kyle Lowry and Kevin Love (both listed as Day to Day).  The Cavs are better in the starting five but the Heat are deeper… so if the Heat don’t have the depth.. The cavs will walk away with this one plus the spread.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have won 6 of their last 10 games.  They went 5-5 ATS during that stretch. They are on a 3-game winning streak.  They won their last game 104-100 against these same Miami Heat ALSO in Miami.  It is a back to back at home for Miami and the Cavs already handled them.  In the win the Cavs got 25 points from Pg Darius Garland, 18 points from SG Donovan Micthell.. But most importantly Cleveland controlled the paint with C Jarret Allen getting 15 points & 12 rebounds and PF Evan Mobley getting 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists… Those are good frontcourt players for a team that is dominated by their guards.

The Miami Heat have won only 3 of their last 10 games.  They went 2-8 ATS during that stretch.  They are a team plummeting like a bad stock.  The only good thing for them at this moment is that few teams below them are succeeding enough to move rapidly up.  They lost their last game against THESE Cleveland Cavaliers 104-100.. In the loss they got 28 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists from SF Jimmy Butler… SG Tyler Herro added 22 points but it was a tough night for the Heat… Sadly as the impending rebuild finally arrives SF Jimmy Butler is both their best player AND the only big time trade piece they might have.  A player of his caliber would definitely jumpstart the next wave of Miami… but it would ensure they wouldn’t be as good for a few years.

Our prediction for Friday, March 10th is…. Cavs 122- Heat 112

Bet on the Cavs.  They just did it… and now they will face the same team in the same arena to do it again.. Bolstered by the fact that SG Donovan Mitchell has rarely ever had two bad games in a row. Bet on the cavs to cover.

Cavs: C Jarrett Allen.  Jarret is mostly forgotten about in this league… except he has played well in New Jersey and plays well in Cleveland… In a league that has marginalized Centers Jarrett simply does what Centers should still do… rebound, score on putbacks and play great defense.

Heat: PF Kevin Love.  IOt’s all over for Kevin.  He was great in his time but the occasional 8-15 points is not what Kevin once was. When his contract expires the Heat will feel a great sigh of relief.  Goodbye Kevin.. Have a great retirement… you outlasted 90% of your draft class and have a Championship ring to show for it.
