The Timberwolves are coming up in the world thanks to former #1 overall pick Anthony Edwards. Taken in 2020 the 6’4 small forward is averaging 22.8 ppg 3.4 apg 6.7 rpg. He is a freakish athlete who attacks the rim and moves at a jarring pace with the ball. There isn’t much nuance to his game yet, but there is plenty of time as he is 20 years old. He’s not a great outside shooter yet and that should be worked on immediately. A basketball purist might want Anthony to move to the shooting guard spot since he is vastly undersized at the 3, but it works for now and when the Timberwolves are on a 5-game winning streak they should change nothing.
The 76ers are coming down in the world thanks to former #1 overall pick Ben Simmons. Taken in 2016 the 6’11 point guard is averaging 0-0-0 in 0 minutes played in 0 games. He has taken no part of this regular season. Last season fans began pointing out what detractors, foes, and the sports press have been saying for years: He Can’t Shoot. He not only can’t shoot, he’s too embarrassed to try at this point. His strengths are obvious… he’s a great defender, he passes the ball really well and if he gets to the rim he can dunk. He has cited mental health as the reason he is holding out… and good luck to him and his treatment/recovery/trade demands. If he is working on a shot while he is out he could come back as one of the best players in the league… if he comes back as he was when he left… he’s vastly overpaid in a big way for limited returns.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs Philadelphia 76ers Preview and Analysis
RECENT FORM
Minnesota has a 9-9 record and is 9-9 ATS. They have logged 6 Overs and 12 Unders. They are 3-3 on the road. (Minny has a game against the Charlotte Hornets Friday Night, these numbers will be off by 1 but still applicable to comparing the teams)
Philly is 10-9 on the season and 9-9-1 ATS. They have notched 7 Overs 11 Unders, and 1 push. They are 4-4 at home.
Offensive Analysis
Minnesota ranks 15th in points with a 107.4 pts per game average, 14th in rebounds with 45.8 per game. Where they struggle is in FG%, they are 27th in the league with 42.4%. For all of Anthony Edwards highlights, the team still needs a Curry wanna be in Minneapolis.
Philadelphia is 19th in ppg with 107.1, a staggeringly bad 29th in rebounds with 41.8. They excel at shooting at the moment with Tobias Harris getting more touches without Ben Simmons (hold-out) and Joel Embiid (Covid absence) on the floor of late. They are 5th in FG%, 6th in 3PT%, and 2nd in FT%.
Defensive Analysis
Defensively the Timberwolves are currently doing better than they have in years. They are ranked 8th defending points 104.8 per, 6th in FG% defense with 43.1, 1st in defending the 3 at 30.1%
On defense the Sixers rank 13th in points/G 106.2, 15th in FG% 45.1, 24th in defense of 3PT%

Coaches
Timberwolves: Chris Finch. Coach Finch is a first year head coach in the NBA. He is doing something right lately. Or maybe it’s all just great timing that the team is playing better and on a win streak. He must notice that the team started winning when Anthony Edwards took over leading scorer status from Karl-Anthony Towns…. Will there be changes?
76ers: Doc Rivers. Coach Rivers has made a great living over the last 35 years as an NBA player and head coach. He has a ring as a head coach with the Boston Celtics. He played alongside Dominique Wilkins on the Atlanta Hawks. High highs and low lows… He doesn’t deserve the circus the 76ers are.
