Heat - Nets preview, prediction and analysis

When you have two teams that are struggling to find any sort of consistency in the NBA right about now, you are really pulling for straws as to which way this game will go. And when I look at the Brooklyn Nets hosting the Miami Heat on Wednesday, I legit have no idea what to think because both teams are on the different course of action as we speak.

Brooklyn obviously we have no idea what to think of them. When you trade Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in the span of three days and you have officially decided to turn your franchise upside down, there's not really a lot you can think about. Brooklyn has lost four of its last five and is coming off losing 124-106 to the New York Knicks on Monday in a game where jalen Brunson dropped 40 points.

Obviously not the most ideal situation for Brooklyn and none of this season has been anything to write home about. But there is a lot of promise on Brooklyn that I for better or worse believe will eventually come through. We're talking about a bunch of wing players that can defend and can shoot and can play all five positions, albeit not consistently but good enough. And they have somehow recouped a lot of draft picks that quite frankly they should have just never gotten again.

But things are not rosy for Miami either as they have gone 4-4 in their last eight overall and only 2-6 against the spread in their last eight. Miami has not been the consistent juggernaut that we have come to expect of them to be, and the fact that they were getting just one point against the Denver Nuggets in the 112-108 loss at home on Monday shows a lot about where Miami is and where it should be, all the while dealing with a rather pedestrian season.

Given the situation of what both rosters look like, the under might be the popular play here. Considering the fact that the under IS6-1 in the last seven meetings and is 8-3-1 in the last 12 at Brooklyn, that seems like a safe bet considering how the offense for Brooklyn obviously took a huge hit once they traded their two superstars. The total is labeled at 212 at most books and I think that is a fair number to call in and say that it will go under.

Prediction

Considering how much Miami is struggling right now, Brooklyn laying 1.5 in this game is quite a shock considering where this team is. But Miami is losing a lot of pieces. They will not have Tyler Hero, Kyle Lowry and Victor Oladipo for this game. The only person the Nets are missing is Seth Curry. Nets 107, Heat 100
