We’re nearing the halfway mark of the college basketball season and it’s been quite the ride so far. Will Rogers is going hard in the last 30 days with a 16-10-1 run, while Kyle Hunter has also had a strong run of form as of late at 28-24-0 (+$1,700). If they’ve been killing it as much as they were in the first half, what does the second half have in store? The only way you’re going to find out is by staying locked on bigal.com and following what our champion handicappers are up to heading into the second half. Trust us, you want to know.
LSU - Missouri preview, prediction and analysis
Recent form
LSU: lost 76-68 vs. Texas Tech
Missouri: won 78-61 vs. No. 12 Iowa State
The Missouri Tigers will be trying for their third straight win when they take on the LSU Tigers at their home arena, Mizzou Arena, on Wednesday.
The Tigers are coming off one of their biggest wins of the season on Saturday, a 78-61 victory over then-No. 12 Iowa State at home to improve to 16-5 on the season. You look at the body of work in the SEC this year and Missouri might be the team no one seems to be talking about now. Win games like that and you can.
Kobe Brown led the way with 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Dmoi Hodge had 17 rebounds on 5 of 10 shooting — all of them were threes — en route to Missouri shooting 14 of 30 from 3-point range in the win.
“To have a quad one win in January is very important,” Missouri coach Dennis Gates said. “I think that’s a two, a possible one-seed team. For us to have that quad one victory is very important, not only on Selection Sunday, but just for us in our growth to recognize who we are and also the confidence that we have in one another.”
Mizzou is just 6-4 in their last 10 both outright and against the spread, but they have covered in three of the blast four, primarily in the wins. Mizzou was getting just 1 point against Iowa State and was laying just two against Ole Miss. Hard to trust a team that got walloped by Alabama by 25.
LSU is coming into Wednesday having lost seven in a row after losing 76-68 to Texas Tech on Saturday. Not the most ideal situation for LSU to lose to an 11-win team that hasn’t won a Big 12 game all year, but that’s how bad things are for the Tigers right now.
Adam Miller led the way with 20 points on five made 3-pointers, and KJ Williams had 14 points on 5 of 18 with the Tigers shooting 37.3 percent from the floor. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, and honestly, these are the worst times for LSU. Nothing can be better for this program right now with how badly they’re playing.
Prediction
LSU has won the last eight meetings, but LSU was a much better team during that time and is an inferior group this time around. Missouri has the better look and I have the utmost confidence that he can do. Missouri 81, LSU 68
