Season Record

Pacers: 6-8, 12th place, Eastern Conference
Knicks: 7-6, 7th place, Eatsern Conference

The season started with a flurry of excitement in New York City as the Knicks were off to a great start.  They were winning contest after contest… the pace has cooled.  They are no longer leading the league in scoring (which they did in week 1) and they are now just 1 game above .500.  Julius Randle has been fantastic, I bet the New Orleans Pelicans wish they had a power forward as good.

The Pacers are the Pacers.  Over the last few seasons they have turned the Rubik’s cube a few times too many… and now the roster is stuck with a couple potential stars languishing on the injured reserve list.  Their current best player is Domantas Sabonis and he is fine, but he and Malcolm Brogdon can’t do it all.  This is most likely a lost NBA season unless they find some way to build better chemistry or get some guys back from knee/ankle/hamstring troubles.

Pacers vs Knicks Preview and Analysis.

RECENT FORM
Ind is 8-6 ATS, logging 5 Overs and 9 Unders.  In road games they are 2-6. Indiana has won their last two games.  They beat the Philadelphia 76ers and the Utah Jazz

NY is 6-7 ATS, notching 6 Overs and 7 Unders.  In home games they are 2-4.  The Knicks are on a 2-game losing streak.  They got beat in their last two by the Charlotte Hornets and the Milwaukee Bucks.  Both games hit the Under.

Offensive Analysis

The Indiana Pacers are 13th in scoring and they seem to be competitive in their losses.  The Pacers odds plummet because they are 29th in free throw attempts and 28th in free throws made… they simply aren’t getting the free points that good teams cash in on.

The New York Knicks have plummeted in scoring… They now rank 12th.  It was a quick fall as they were 3rd in as few as four games ago.  They have managed to stay 4th in 3-point FG% and 10th in offensive rebounding.  It may just be a rough patch and they will bounce back… or it could be that they are regressing to the mean.

Coaches
Pacers:  Rick Carlisle.  Coach Carlisle was at the Pacers for some good years 2003-2007.  He left for the Dallas Mavericks in 2008-2021.  In that job he became the only Mavericks coach to ever win an NBA championship.  Mark Cuban pushed Rick out in favor of retired NBA superstar Jason Kidd becoming the Mavs head coach.  Now Rick is back in Indiana and the Mavs stink again.

Knicks: Tom Thibodeau.  Coach Tibbs has lightened up over the years and now smart NBA players like Julius Radle will run through walls for him.  Everyone hopes it goes well because the league is supposedly better when the Knicks are good.  Coach is a guru of the defensive end and all he has to do with NY is get these guys playing together in rhythm… the roster is good.
