We’re nearing the halfway mark of the college basketball season and it’s been quite the ride so far. Will Rogers is going hard in the last 30 days with a 16-10-1 run, while Kyle Hunter has also had a strong run of form as of late at 28-24-0 (+$1,700). If they’ve been killing it as much as they were in the first half, what does the second half have in store? The only way you’re going to find out is by staying locked on bigal.com and following what our champion handicappers are up to heading into the second half. Trust us, you want to know.
Georgia Tech - Louisville preview, prediction and analysis
Recent form
Georgia Tech: lost 86-43 vs. Duke
Louisville: lost 76-72 at Notre Dame
Is today the day that the Louisville Cardinals actually win a conference game? Quite honestly, the fact that they are getting two points in most books really tells me that no one has any faith in them to do so when they take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at home at KFC Yum! Center on Wednesday but college basketball is a weird sport man.
If you could really pinpoint how bad of a season this has been for Louisville, I really don't know where to begin. This is a team that started the year 0-9 with loss after loss after loss, and then to finally win two games in a row against teams that you should beat, and then losing 10 more in a row it is truly the greatest achievement of our time in this sport.
Louisville is coming off a 76-62 loss at Notre Dame on Saturday, just another day in the office when you look at the grand scheme of things of how this season has gone for the Cardinals. Mike James led the way with 14 points on six of eight shooting, and Louisville actually shot a decent 46.3% from the floor but still could not win away from home for the sixth time this season.
It has definitely not been a good season either against the spread for the Cardinals either. They are just 5-15-1 on the books over theis 2-19 record. it's about as bad as you can possibly imagine for this program and I still can't believe that they are as horrible as they have been this year.
But hey, Georgia Tech isn't looking so hot either. Georgia Tech has only one conference win this entire season and that was back on January 4th against Miami when the Hurricanes were ranked 12th in the country. Since that game, Georgia Tech has fallen hard and is falling fast. The Yellow Jackets are coming off a game against Duke in which they were doubled up in the final score, 86-43.
This game was about as bad as it could get for Georgia Tech. They shot just 30.9% from the floor, 5 of 22 from 3 point range and only one player scored in double figures and it was neither of their five starters. Was a bench player playing in 21 minutes that reached 10 points and that was it. They have not been as much of a exciting team basketball that is played, but man it is hard to watch that team unfold just like it is very difficult to watch Louisville trying accomplish whatever in the world it is they are trying to accomplish. Oh, and Georgia Tech has failed to cover in its last five.
Prediction
If there was ever a time for this streak to end and if there was ever a time for the home team to get an upset victory, it would be right now against Louisville and I think the Cardinals will have a chance to get it done. But I don't think it's going to happen. Georgia Tech 74, Louisville 71
