Ohio State Buckeyes Analysis

OSU is coming into this game with a 5-1 record overall and they are 2-0 in their road games this season where they will be in this game. This will be their 4th conference matchup of the year and they are off to a great start with a 3-0 record in their conference games this season. Their 3 wins came against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and against Maryland in their last game. After getting upset by the Oregon Ducks a few weeks ago, they have recovered nicely winning their last 4 games straight and ranking 5th in the nation after climbing back up the AP poll each week. They smashed Maryland in their last one in a game where the Terrapins had no chance of winning from the start. CJ Stroud played great in that game as he completed 24/33 passes for 406 yards and 5 touchdowns. TreVeyon Henderson led the team in rushing with 102 yards and 2 touchdowns on 16 carries while Master Teague also found the end zone on the ground in that one. The receiving corps had a very nice day as Chris Olave led the receivers with 120 yards and 2 touchdowns on 7 receptions while Jaxon Smith-Njigba was right behind him with 103 receiving yards on 5 receptions. Garrett Wilson and Henderson both caught the other touchdown passes in that game. Steele Chambers led the defense with 6 solo tackles and 1 assisted one while Ronnie Hickman was right behind with 5 solo tackles and 1 assisted one. Chambers along with Jack Sawyer, J.T. Tuimoloau and Cormontae Hamilton all led the defense in sacks with 1 each while Craig Young had the only 2 interceptions in that game for them. They have scored 291 points in their first 6 games averaging 48.5 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 123 points against them allowing 20.5 PPG. Their offense is averaging 562.7 YPG while their defense is allowing 387.3 YPG.

Indiana Hoosiers Analysis

Indiana is coming into this game with a 2-4 record overall and they are 1-2 in their home games this season where they will be in this game. This will be the 4th conference matchup on their schedule and they have already dug themselves into a hole with a 0-3 record in their conference games this season. Their 3 losses came against the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Penn State Nittany Lions, and against MSU in their last game. That was a very close game that they had a shot at going into halftime with a lead but they just fell short losing that game to MSU by 5 points. Jack Tuttle really struggled in that game as he completed 28/52 passes for 188 yards and 2 interceptions. Stephen Carr led the team in rushing with 53 yards and 1 touchdown on 19 carries but they did not really get much of a run game going in that one. Ty Fryfogle led the receivers with 65 yards on 7 receptions while Carr led the team in receptions with 8 for 43 receiving yards as well. Overall, it was a very quiet day for the receiving corps and the offense as a whole. Noah Pierre led the defense with 8 solo tackles, 1 assisted one and he also had 1 interception in that game. Josh Sanguinetti had the only other interception for the defense in that one while Micah Mcfadden led the defense in sacks with 1.5. They have scored 134 points in their first 6 games averaging 22.3 PPG and they have allowed their opponents to score 161 points against them allowing 26.8 PPG. Their offense is averaging 340 YPG while their defense is allowing 333.2 YPG.

Ohio State vs Indiana Prediction

OSU is coming into this one as a 21 point favorite with the current betting odds according to Draftkings Sportsbook. Indiana has been keeping their games close but they have mainly played tougher opponents with good defenses. Now they will be getting a team with a good defense and an even better offense that is probably the best offense they have seen all year. OSU struggled at the beginning of the year but each week they look better and better until they are finally rolling on all cylinders. The best bet to place in this game is one OSU to cover the spread as they are the better team and trying to make the college football playoffs still and will need some big blowout games to move up the ranking.

Players to Watch

Ohio State Buckeyes: TreVeyon Henderson is one player to watch in this contest. He leads his team in rushing yards and in touchdowns scored this season. He is coming off of a game where he had over 100 yards and will be looking to continue that into this game now that their offense has been rolling. Look for him to get a lot of touches in this game as his team will likely be ahead by a lot the whole time.

Indiana Hoosiers: Stephen Carr is one player to watch in this one. He leads his team in rushing yards and in touchdowns scored this season. He is coming off of a game where he led the team in rushing, was 2nd in receiving and found the end zone as well. He is one of their biggest playmakers and they have a very tough opponent on their hands this week so look for them to get the ball into his hands a lot in this game.

Notable Quotes

"I think his preparation has been excellent. I think he sees the field well. He's got some good players around him, but he's also making really good throws. His timing is right, he's seeing the field, making good decisions. And so that is allowing us to run the offense and to be very efficient." - Ryan Day on CJ Stroud and his improvement in their games each week.

“We got to be able to, in that moment, play our best football. There's no doubt that's the objective, that's the goal. That's what we're going to do everything within our power to do that against a team that is very, very talented, has a lot of really good football players, and they're very well-coached.” - Tom Allen on how his team needs to play against OSU to beat them.
