An NBA Eastern Conference matchup between two very even teams.  They are separated by only a few spots in the standings as both are playoff contenders.  The Cleveland Cavaliers have a great backcourt… The New York Knicks have a great backcourt.  The Knicks have a powerful power forward.. The Cavs have a powerful power forward. The difference only lies at Center where the Cavs have Jarrett Allen who is smooth and powerful… and the Knicks are missing Mitchell Robinson.  That is the difference.  The great betting opportunity here is in wondering how the Knicks could possibly cover without Robinson?.... You may notice I did not compare RJ Barett and Isaac Okoro at small forward… That is because there is no difference.  RJ has big games and invisible games while Okoro has a median game almost every night.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have won 5 of their last 10 games.  Not a great result, but not a losing result.  They won their last game against the Milwaukee Bucks 114-102.  In that game Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo did not play.  The Cavs got 38 points from PF Evan Mobley and 21 points from PG Darius Garland, as they were also missing SG Donovan Micthell.  So two teams missing their best player and the cavs win.

The Knicks have won 5 of their last 10 games.  However they are on a 4-game losing streak.  The Knicks were celebrated for signing Jalen Brunson and finding Quentin Grimes.  And they should be those guys are a great backcourt.. However they can not overcome missing Mitchell Robinson at the Center position.  They lost their last game to the Toronto Raptors 125 - 116 for a loss ATS.  They are also on a 4-game losing streak ATS.  In the loss the Knicks got 30 points from SF RJ Barrett and 23 points from PF Julius Randle, and 21 points from PG Jalen Brunson.. However SG Quenton Grimes and C Jericho Sims didn’t seem to show up for the game.  They looked lame and dumb.

Cleveland Cavaliers VS New York Knicks Prediction

Our prediction for Monday, January 24th is…. Cavs 120 - Knicks 109

Bet on the cavs. The Cavs are not good on the road, but the Knicks are not good at home. The result is actually missing C Mitchell Robinson and the Knicks having no way to compensate for it.

Players To Watch
Cavaliers: PF Evan Mobley.  Evan is the star he was drafted to be and he is still young enough to have a tone of upside.  However he is a little too thin to bang on the box with Julius Randle.  Watch him to see if he mans up or quits early.

Knicks: C Jericho Sims.  Jericho is invisible on any night that C Mitchell Robinson is available… However Mitchell is out with a thumb injury until mid-february.  This entire season falls into the hands of the relatively available Jericho Sims. Bring it up… or give it up Jericho.

COACH

Cavaliers: JB “My roster has talent” Bickerstaff
Knicks: Tom “I will crush you!” Thibodeau
