An NBA Eastern Conference matchup between longtime rivals.  Though the rivalry has been brighter in recent years.  This season the Celtics are not only the cream of the crop for the Eastern Conference, but they are the cream of the crop for the whole league.  The Leprechaun is biting everyone on the ankle and laughing as they limp away.  The Miami Heat still have mostly the same roster that made the NBA Finals two seasons ago after beating the Celtics to get there… Only now.. The Heat are showing wear and tear and fatigue.  They have gotten older and the high achievement players like Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson and Bam Adebayo are simply not achieving as highly as they once were.  The great betting opportunity here is figuring out how many points you are willing to give up in a bet on the Celtics… and if the spread goes bonkers?... maybe you want to bet the other way?

The Boston Celtics are killers. That simple.  They are on a 9-game winning streak after having won 9 of their last 10 games.  They have a game against the Orlando Magic before this game against the Heat will play… but do you think they will lose that one?  The Celtics beat the Toronto Raptors, without their best player and leading scorer Jayson Tatum in the lineup, 106-104.  It was a loss ATS, but a win is a win.  In that win Boston got 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists from SF Jaylen Brown who should be playing SG if everyone were healthy at the tip.  They also got 23 points from bench guard Malcolm Brogdon and 25 points from bench forward Grant Williams.  The mark of a great team is depth AFTER the stars… which is exactly why the Lakers are terrible and the Hawks and Wizards are invisible… no depth means no chance.

The Miami Heat have won 6 of their last 10 games.  They won their last game against the New Orleans Pelicans 100-96 who were playing without Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram… It was a loss ATS for the Heat.  In the win the Heat got 26 points from SG Tyler Herro and 18 each from C Bam Adebayo and SF Jimmy Butler.  Those three names should be leading in the stat column. They also should be the three players going out in trades with “bad contracts” attached.  The Heat need a rebuild soon before the erosion gets embarrassing.  They need picks and players back.  Heat fans may not think so… But c’mon.  This team is waiting for perfect health to be a middling playoff team. A full rebuild is the only way to save Miami’s future.  Purists will tell you to give them the whole season to right the ship.. That will only make everyone a year older and a year more expensive.

Boston Celtics VS Miami Heat Prediction

Our prediction for Monday, January 24th is…. Celtics 121 - Heat 101

The Celtics should eat the Heat for lunch and reminisce about it later.  Jayson tatum has been out and hopefully they hold him out again in the Orlando Magic game… but he is ready to go for Miami… he fully neutralizes Jimmy Butler… after that match up the next 3 best players in the game are all Celtics… Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, and Robert Williams III.  It will be a Celtics beatdown thrust on the Heat.

Players to Watch

Celtics:  SF Jayson Tatum. Jayson will have a big night in his first or second game back from missing a game with injury.  Jayson is starting to feel that the Championship trophy is the only one he ever has to win.  He will not get the MVP with Joker and Giannnis in the League… He can’t get Most Improved. He ascended to greatness already.  The trophy and the Finals MVP is all that is available to him.

Heat: SF Jimmy Butler.  Still a great 2-way player that could put any contender over the top.  Too bad he is not on a contender.  Jimmy is and has been great in this league.  He is worth watching at every chance because he does all the little things that builds to great basketball.

COACH

Celtics: Joe “Where is the training room?.. I just got here” Mazzula
Heat: Erik “I have been here since the Paleolithic Era” Spoelstra
